Here is one of Magnuz of Sweden's projects in Second Life.
The planetarium has some 50 functions, providing a spherical stellar map with adjustable brightness and grid settings, optional display and projections of the Sun, Moon and planets in our Solar system, and their orbits, rotating and orbiting to the proper positions for a selected positions on Earth at the present, a selected timepoint or in an animation at selected pace. It is mounted on an artistic stand involving sculpted rock supports, a glass walking bridge and a fountain.

The (old) planetarium is located in the south-western part of the sim Honawan, a region of the old southern continent of Second Life. It is built high up in a slope bordering on the neighbouring sim Horseshoe.
Background
This was my first attempt at presenting scientific data in Second Life, and it developed into the most advanced single item I have created so far, and also became the origin of a whole astronomy theme park. The functionality was developed step by step, from a static stellarium to the dynamic display tool it is today. This stand-alone version is really a kind of museum, since it has been developed further after being incorporated into the astronomy theme park. It also acts as a kind of advertisement with direct teleportation to the astronomy theme park.
Construction
The first versions of the planetarium hovered as a single sphere over another project, the Greek temple. I acquired the land for the present planetarium display in the sim Honawan 2007-09-02 and built the first version of the stand for it and moved it there 2007-10-05. The present version of the stand was finished 2007-10-24, and the present version of the planetarium sphere itself dates from 2007-10-29. Some minor changes, like the removal of celestial globes and sales packages, and addition of the teleporter, were made when the astronomy theme park was inaugurated.
Future
There will be no further development of this museum piece, and it may be dismantled in the future, if the need for the prim it represents becomes urgent.
