Here is one of Magnuz of Sweden's projects in Second Life.
The sky beach is a gift to a dear friend who needed a place to relax and contemplate, away from other people and disturbances. It features an idyllic 19th century Swedish cottage on a beach with the rolling waves she loves, and surrounded by a forested garden, all hovering high above the ground.
Location
The sky beach is the private home of a friend whose privacy should be respected.
Background
This was both my first sky construction project and my first finished attempt to construct something that could be used as a home. It was also the first time I used more advanced items by others (the waves and pose-balls) in a build. The incitement of a friend in need helped me with the motivation and efforts in both respects, even if I had other projects in the pipe as well. The inspiration was fetched from both what she has told me she longed for and research into the architecture of old Swedish cottages. In this project I used the experienced from previous builds and scaled the cottage up to some 150-200%, making it more comfortable to navigate and suitable for the grossly oversized furniture in Second Life.
Construction
I acquired the land the cottage hovers above in 2007-10-24 and constructed the beach and cottage 2007-10-29 - 2007-11-02. After that, only minor adjustments with some addition of furniture have been made. Much of the experience from this build has been used in later sky builds and in the use of third party items in building.
Future
The ownership to the land is still mine, since my friend is no premium member in Second Life, but the right of use will belong to my friend as long as both she and I are participating in Second Life.
