Here is one of Magnuz of Sweden's projects in Second Life.
Sweden 3D Map by Magnuz of Sweden is a representation of the country Sweden, it's municipalities/cities (Swedish "kommun") and counties (Swedish "län") with information about area, population and coats of arms, and the surrounding seas and countries, to scale 1:40,000 (height scale attenuated to 1:500), with setting functions for the display of the municipality/city and county markers, a browser interface for finding, highlighting and getting information about the municipalities/cities, and web links to more information by touching markers or country flags.

The Sweden 3D map is located in the south-western part of the sim Badger, a region of the old southern continent of Second Life. It hovers some 300 meters above the slope below it.
Background
I have always liked maps, and had a special weakness for relief maps where the topography can be seen. I have also had a long crush on model railroading, and would love to one day build a large model railroad with landscape, which usually means having to exaggerate the topography owing to the limited lateral space. Being a fan of symbols with an interest in medieval times, I also think it's a pity the treasure of coats of arms for Swedish towns, municipalities, counties and regions isn't exhibited more. Combine those factors plus newly acquired skills in creating sculpted prims for topography and, voila, this project is what you get.
Construction
I acquired the land for the present map in the sim Badger 2008-07-10 and created a first, limited version of the map 2008-07-14. The present version, which is larger than the first, and was moved a bit after re-arranging parcel borders, was originally built 2008-07-21. A few days later the appearence had been touched up a bit, complete data and interactivity been added, as well as the flags of Sweden and neighbouring countries. A browser interface for finding municipalities/cities was added 2008-08-16. After that, no major changes have been made to the map.
Future
Animated models of railroads, roads, shipping lines and airlines should be added. Characteristic nature types for various parts of the land should be modeled, and region symbols, such as flowers, animals and star constellations, should be added. If resources are added, through sponsors or collaborators, the map could be scaled up to an entire sim, using the sim land for topography and allowing more detailed modeling of various characteristics.
